On a two week walk through Normandy le petit navire was the best restaurant we encountered and that was out of some strong competition. We had two nights in Genets and ate here both nights. Great home cooking, melt in the mouth lamb, excellent friendly and efficient service. All in all great food and very welcoming. Was a quite night we were there so only one staff member, but he was fantastic. Very friendly and efficient. Picked up our French was very minimal, but helped us through it. Also had an English menu which was very helpful. Food was definitely Home style cooking. Which while traveling I love finding little gems like this. All three courses plus wine were delicious. Would definitely recommend if your in town. I love moules et frites and will order them whenever I'm near enough to the source of the mussels. These were the best I've ever had. Lamb chops and steaks were also delicious and perfectly prepared. Desserts and calvados blew us away. There are at least two other excellent restaurants in Genets, all of which we'd happily return to, but le Petit Navire was the best, We love visiting Genets and came across this restaurant. From the outside not particularly attractive but once you step inside, it is very nice and the terrace area is a delight. It was a really nice sunny day which helped of course, but even on cooler days it is a great spot. We enjoyed a nice meal, my moules was superb and my wife enjoyed her salad. The young lady who served us was charming. The food and armosphere at this little place was absolutely charming. Object d,Art everywhere and French quisine with a twist. The menu was at first glance quite limited, especially if you are not a great fish eater like myself however there were a few otjer delights to choose from. The duck breast in caramel sauce was my particular favourite and the best dinner I had all week.. Seemed to be mainly locals in which created a really convivial atmosphere. Lovely way to spend an evening. My family and I stopped here for lunch before going to see Mont St Michael. The restaurant was almost empty and we were shown into a beautiful outdoor garden to eat. The owner couldn't have been kinder and he was clearly happy to have us as guests in his restaurant. I tried the plat du jour, which was grilled beef with fries, ratatouille, and a side salad. It was all delicious and the food combined with the quaint ambiance to make for a relaxing and wonderful lunch.
